skyfire is not opening in india . pls tell me what to do?????? it says not available in india.
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do (other than upgrade to skyfire 2.0). Skyfire 1.5 only supports certain countries (there's a list somewhere and other links around pointing to that list so I won't repeat it here) and unfortunately India is not on that list. On 7/1/2010, Skyfire shut down access to all unsupported countries in an effort to improve audio/video capabilities of skyfire 1.5. It appeared that the file servers were just becoming too overloaded with traffic and much of the traffic was from countries skyfire didn't officially support but was using the product anyway.
As much as I dislike seeing people cut off from using skyfire, I will have to say that their solution did work. Skyfire seems to be able to play audio and video again, decently. It's certainly not perfect but it's good enough. Personally, I would have rather seen the skyfire team add file servers or additional data centers to support more countries and people, however, as with any company, there are limits to how much a company will spend versus how much it makes in a country so I guess it just wasn't cost effective to open new data centers.
Skyfire 1.5 is also not being developed any longer in favor of putting their resources towards the development of skyfire 2.0 for android. I also read that skyfire 2.0 will eventually be made available to other platforms, not just android, in the future.
Unfortunately, this doesn't help you use skyfire but at least it explains why you're not able to use it anymore. There are other browser options available though and some of those are listed in these forums. Just search a few threads and you should be able to find it.
