For the last few days Skyfire has got slower and slower at rendering the pages on my N97.
This is the same on wifi and 3G.
When clicking on a link the page starts the load process as normal, but then the screen stays white for 30-90 seconds whilst the content appears. There is no noticeable sign that the page is loading either - however if you have the patience it eventually displays the content - and then promptly times out.
This is happening on all web pages I am visiting and is a development within the last 48-72 hrs.
Anyone else got this problem?

Try testing your connection speed and latency; use Web to go to this site:
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1Or maybe it's a Skyfire server issue.

Is anyone else having this issue?
It is still the same for me most of the time - with google and the home page loading fine, but websites taking over a minute to render.
My Nokia browser is currently far faster than Skyfire, so I imagine it will be a server side issue?

Me too, Nokia N97, extremely slow connecting via 3 network & wifi in the last few days. Nokia browser now faster than skyfire! I also removed all previously installed apps, no difference still slow.
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi, yes, same here, samsung omnia i8910 HD. exactly as previously described. the unreliability of Skyfire is very concerning and is currently unusable.
Can we have a comment please Dave ? are the servers struggling, is it global or is it only happening to UK users ?, it can;t be carrier related as it happens on wifi too....
help please Dave, there's currently tennis and F1 which we can't watch due to this.....
thanks in advance..

same here... and i'm on a winmo platform, not symbian and it's still super slow. i think it's related to the video problems.
This is my opinion and not a fact but i think skyfire's dumping all their resources into the android version which is why winmo and symbian versions of skyfire are suffering slow downs as well as the inability to stream audio/video with any speed what-so-ever. They're probably devoting most of their server resources into android connections as well. Again tho... this is my opinion only and not a statement of fact.
We've been begging for a fix for months and no fix has come. We get vague answers from Dave saying the dev team is working on it but here we are, 5-6 months later and we still can't watch a video. Now, we can't even load a page. Pocket IE is actually faster than skyfire now and opera absolutely flies compared to skyfire.
I'm just so fed up with skyfire. I read blogs, web pages, etc where the skyfire CEO rambles on about how fast skyfire is. he touts it's ability to play flash video. They claim it's the fastest browser out there and continually claim it's great for playing flash videos. It's all right on the skyfire website. It's all lies... either the CEO knows skyfire's slow and can't play video and he's lieing about it or he lives in a vacuum and has no idea how poorly skyfire is actually performing.
I say again... if the browser can't do what they say it can do then don't advertise it's abilities. they promise performance that they don't deliver. We've asked nicely for them to fix it. We've demanded that they fix it. Many of us are very frustrated and fed up.
If we want the skyfire team to do anything about fixing this product so that it's stable and works as advertised then there's only one thing we can do... STOP USING THE BROWSER. If large numbers of people stop using the browser then the skyfire team will fix it.

I must admit that it had also occurred to me that all resources were being channelled towards Android. God help us if Apple give Skyfire approval!!
I'm currently using Opera mobile and am blown away by the speed - Skyfire was never as fast, even at it's prime.
I miss the landing page with Facebook/Twitter integration and rss feeds etc. But you're right- videos on Skyfire haven't worked properly for a long time, so I don't miss that functionality on Opera.
It would just be nice to hear that the Skyfire team acknowledge the problem, but since the Android version was released it seems very little notice is taken of the original pre ver. 1.0 users.
I hope this changes soon - I would love to keep using Skyfire, and be able to promote it to other Symbian users - but it just doesn't work at the moment.

Same here on my nokia N97 mini and Skyfire Server ID:-10.110.120.127.
I'm using Skyfire for 5 months never had this problem of slowness. But for now stoped using it.I think it is server problem.

There are many more Symbian + W7 smartphones out there than Android, so it would be a strange business decision to target Android users at the expense of other mobile platforms.
Anyway, I'd suggest that the real fix is to set the SkyFire software up so that when connected through WiFi, the SkyFire servers are completely bypassed. This would take a large amount of load off the servers for those streaming media over 3G, and allow me to connect to internet radio at home no matter what the server load is.

Are you kidding? What are you doing with it? The video choppiness is horrible and for reading news or texts I prefer to use Opera Mobile. I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem now.

Nope, you aren't the only one. I'm still having major issues with page loading, video playback and even streaming radio. I use uZard browser and even though it's still in beta, video works, pages load faster, heck it just works. I'm hoping Skyfire will work again soon, it was a trailblazer for browsers. They've set the standard and just sort of left it there.

There's a fix in the works that should help with the performance issues. I don't have an ETA, but thanks for your patience.

Hope the bug will be fixed faster, because it's so frustrating to not be able to view the flash content. I even upgraded to a more expensive internet subscription in order to view live streaming, and SF used to work so well until the bug emerged.

How long has this been going on. I bought my Samsung Code in April and I have never been able to watch a video with Skyfire. I thought it was my network just being a 1G but maybe it is skyfire

"Thanks" for the "fix". The fix was to ban certain countries that Skyfire considers to be "the third world".

I'm also having this problem. Some pages are also giving me a 404 error that is erroneous, the sites are working fine in another browser that I use on my phone, as well as my desktop.
Using a Touch Pro2, T-Mobile USA, WinMo 6.5. Speed tests show that my connection is way above par.
