Full Version: Poor Flash Video Buffering Performance
Skyfire Forums > General > Feature Issues

every site; every video; very slow buffering and very choppy playback of video;

This product will never go anywhere until the poor video buffereing performance is corrected. You have to realize this is the key item that will bring people to this product if it can be made to work as advertized (which it just doesn't). The rest of it is fluff.

CPU power and the quality of the network connection can make a big difference in video playback quality. What phone do you have? What kind of connection do you have to the Internet?

i've previously brought this up.

My i617 Samsung is listed @: Dual ARM 9 260 MHz processor

Thats not really enough to have Skyfire perform at a level where i can fairly judge it. So if yours isn't at least ways better, you're probably going to have to go with a different phone.

I did suggest that the Skyfire support page should put brackets beside certain phones that may not fully support Skyfire, but will still work if needed

What problems are you seeing with video on those sites? Poor performance?

Dave, the page with videos dont always startup, it'll hang on loading forever. i used to never have problems loading videos and playing them although somewhat laggy it was playable. but in the last 2 weeks i cant them to always load with persistence. try this for example on a EVDO HTC TOUCH PRO 2 http://cnettv.cnet.com/ it rarely loads properly. same goes for revision3 website. same goes for this site http://www.ctvolympics.ca/video/index.html

What do you see when it hangs on loading? A spinning red circle?

Does it help to hit the 5 key (for reload)?

Could you please fill in your carrier and phone info in your personal profile?

A fix was rolled out a few days ago for video playback on many sites. Do you see any difference this week?
