When you look at Help -> About -> More Info, what Server ID do you see? If it starts with 10.100 then you are being misdirected directed to the US server. The ops team will be doing a correction for this soon, which should fix the problem.

YesThat is what I get. Not being pointed at uk server id. Any ideas how to fix it?
Always starts with 10.100 on server id. Messes up youtube shows as well. Especially more 4 and demand 5 neither will work.

You could try reinstalling. The browser sets the server at installation. The US, rather than the UK, server can be selected by mistake depending on the connection (the cellular or WiFi network). If you installed before using your cell provider then maybe try again with WiFi, or vice-versa.

Hi,
I had the same problem and I had to re-install probably at least a dozen times , eventually you will get a UK server as suggested.

Good luck

on a similar issue, which i suspect from the above replies can't be fixed - i live in NZ, and when I try to access TVNZ website videos i get the message that they're only viewable from NZ. The server ID is 10.100.120.220, which must be telling the TVNZ website that I'm in the US. Is there any setting I can change / registry tweak that will let sites know I'm in NZ?

Thanks for pointing this out. The situation is a little different, because Skyfire has a datacenter in the UK and one in the US but no datacenter in NZ. In theory Skyfire should send appropriate location info to the site allowing them to see you as being from NZ and let you in properly.

What was the exact URL?

for example, just go to http://tvnz.co.nz and click on any of the links to watch something, eg latest news, then the watch tab, then an item

it plays an ad first, which plays OK, then the item gets blocked

Thanks for the info. I see the message (but I'm in the US so it is to be expected for me).

Who is your carrier? Does it make a difference if you use WiFi rather than your cell carrier?

I think it would be nice if the IP farm could be chosen by the client (end user) I.E. allow me to see video content meant for UK (like BBC video) even if I'm in the US.

I have the same problem. Downloaded the New Beta version and installed it. Tried Selecting WIFI first but Iplayer tells me The content is for UK only so I uninstall Skyfire and then select Contract Internet with Vodafone and I get the same message.

I have also tried deleting prefs same.

I do get a 10.100.120.183 ServerID in all instances but it doesnt work. sad.gif

Its not a massive problem for me as the seperate Iplayer widget works anyway on the 5800.

I have this exact same problem, and TV Catchup doesn't work for me either.

My server is 10. 100. 120. 119

I checked on this yesterday and I don't have an ETA but there is a fix in the works.

So why is it still the same? Have they fixed it?

I have a HTC HD2 on o2, I have all above problems and tried all workarounds with no success. my server ID says 10.100.120.170 . Any news when there will be a fix to change ID to UK? would like to have the ability to us TVCatchup and BBC iplayer over WIFI .

Many Thanks
Mutha
I have the same issue. Redirecting to the US server.

Any update on a fix yet ?

Cheers.

Can't say for sure but we might be able to run a fix on this later this month.

BTW, some users have found that reinstalling gets them to the UK datacenter. But it doesn't work for everyone.

Don't know if it helps, but if I install via GPRS via Vodafone UK, then Skyfire goes to the 'right', i.e. UK, server. However, the moment I connect wirelessly via my ISP (TalkTalk) then the server defaults back to the wrong one, i.e. the US server. Hope there will be an update soon, as this is the only fault in what else is an excellent mobile browser

Strange, because Skyfire should pick its datacenter server only once, then continue to use that datacenter until it is uninstalled (or the prefs file is blitzed).

Could you give us a step-by-step of what you are seeing, including the specific server IDs Skyfire is using each time?

Sorry, it must have been my mistake because I saw a 10.102 IP address first time when connecting through GPRS and then a 10.100 IP address the second time when connecting through my ISP, I stoopidly thought that 10.102 was UJ IP address, but on reflection, I was soooo wrong. Any idea of timescales for this fix, as I love Skyfire and this is the one fly in the ointment! smile.gif

If you haven't already, you may want to try uninstalling, then reinstalling, with a different connection method. For example, try uninstalling Skyfire, disabling your cellular carrier's data access (such as by removing the SIM card), and installing Skyfire while using WiFi. Some users have found that this gets them to the UK rather than the US datacenter.
