I'm curious to know if it is really safe to enter personal info using Skyfire such as passwords for banking or credit card numbers? Has anyone had a problem doing this?
I made an online purchase using Skyfire and paid for it via Paypal. A little while later, I received an alert from Paypal saying that my account had been frozen for security reasons and I had to create a new password. Coincidence?
Until I have more confidence, I won't be entering any more secure info.

for sites like paypal the connection between the skyfire servers and paypal would be encrypted. between the skyfire servers and your phone is most likely secure as well, since an account can only be logged on from one phone at a time. Most likely is that paypal may have noticed that the transaction came from a domain that was not where you normally connect from.
the other possibility is that the email may have been an attempt at phishing your account
I would suggest changing your password again just in case

Hi

The same happened to me while logging in into my Bank of America's account. Everything worked fine but when I tried to log using my desktop browser, I got a message that I had to reset my settings because someone tried to log in. Not sure if came as a result of Bofa's server detecting Skyfire or if...well the servers are not secure at all.

I'd suggest not to use Skyfire to log into sensitive websites.

So far, I love Skyfire, is the best mobile browser available.

Thanks for the advise but i've gotten those phishing emails before and this was legit.
Is it possible for Skyfire employees to see people's passwords or credit card #'s?

it's good that you know what to look for. as far as how skyfire works on the server side, or if employees can esily see your information, I don't know. We moderators don't work for skyfire, and I live on the other side of the country so a trip there is a little out of the budget..
But generally, I agree. I keep my banking and paypaling to PIE or Opera Mobile. A direct connection will always be the most secure

Hey.

Hello from Australia smile.gif Just following up on the security issues with Skyfire v1.5
Is it still best to do your banking on a laptop, desktop or if on mobile (in this case a Nokia E71) Opera or E71 web browser?
